Mkuu wa sera za kimataifa katika umoja wa ulaya Catherine Ashton na waziri wa mambo ya kigeni wa Afrika ya kusini Maite Nkoana-Mashabane walifanya mazungumzo juu ya vikwazo vilivyowekwa dhidi ya nchi ya Iran na Zimbabwe.

Mazungumzo hayo yalikuwa ni sehemu ya maandalizi ya mkutano wa kilele wa Umoja wa Ulaya uliopangwa kufanyikia mjini Brussels nchini Ubelgiji tarehe 18 mwezi ujao ambapo raisi Jacob Zuma anatarajiwa kuhudhuria.
Waziri Mashabane alisema kuwa kuhusiana na vikwazo vya mafuta kwa Iran wamekubaliana kumtuma mjumbe kutoka Afrika kusini mjini Brussels kujadili matokeo ya vikwazo vya EU kwa Iran,na nchi nyingine za ukanda wa kusini mwa Afrika.

Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
