Time To Occupy Hip-Hop

by TRUTH Minista Paul Scott October 24th, 2011 @ 7:45pm   “Y’all been eatin’ long enough now, stop bein’ greedy   Just keep it real potna, give to the needy”                                              ” Stop Being Greedy” -DMX One morning last month, tired of the state of corporate-owned Hip Hop, a small group of people gathered in front of Intergalactic Records with picket signs saying “Hip Hop Sucks!”  That night, a DJ rolled up with some old school Kool Herc-type speakers and started blastin’ classic, underground Hip Hop, shaking the walls of the building. The movement has since spread like wildfire across the country as thousands of disgruntled former Hip Hop fans have begun gathering at radio stations across the country yelling “Give Hip Hop back to the 99%!” Think this can’t happen? Think again. With the Occupy Wall Street Movement in full swing, it is only a matter of time before somebody asks the question that will spark the rap revol

Tribute to Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere By Benjamin William Mkapa

Benjamin William Mkapa, -----  Tribute to Nyerere By Benjamin William Mkapa, As Managing Editor of then ruling Party and Government Newspapers, I used to post a column regularly, entitled: What they say about US. In this I reproduce features or news analysis, both favourable and critical of Tanzania, written by journalists from all sort of local and International newspapers. This year we celebrate fifty years of the independence of mainland Tanzania. And to-day we commemorate the passing on of its Founding Father, Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere. Having worked with him I have been reflecting on what I could say about him. I have decided that the best tribute I can pay to his life and work is to recall the Eulogy I made on the occasion of the State Funeral at the National Stadium in Dar Es Salaam on 21 st October 1999. Here it is. State Funeral for Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere One of the legacies of President Mkapa is his handling of the illn

Commentary: Why Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Baby News Matters

by Seandra Sims I’m thinking back to a conversation I had with an old friend at an event late last week. “Bey’s pregnant,” he whispered. I replied, “I knew it,” recalling a recent picture I had seen of her performing in a shiny, red, typical Beyonce get-up. Her face was fat, her tatas were bigger, and the fringes on her outfit were covering an obviously swollen belly. Just as I prepared to ask my friend if I could run with the rumor, he read my face and said, “They’ll know soon enough.” Finally. Jay-Z had been allegedly calling for it like a crack fiend for a few years now – a child. And, as if his life couldn’t get any better, he had finally impregnated the biggest pop star on the planet. He and Beyonce revealed their joy live on the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, arguably the biggest global pop awards show, for all to see. (Remember the days when Jay-Z wouldn’t even attend

Hakika, Igunga hawakustahili kumlilia Rostam

Katika harakati za kupigania au kutetea ukweli, Sir Winston siku moja alisema: “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. Steve Jobs’ Glorious Effect On AllHipHop

by Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur October 6th, 2011 Steve Jobs has died. The news hit me like a punch from Mike Tyson in his prime as I left the office Wednesday night. I never had the chance to meet him, but he was a mentor of mine. When I first started with the branding, imagery, and marketing of AllHipHop, I looked at the work Steve Jobs had done at Apple as the chief model for how we would present our company to the world. Sure, we weren’t dealing with computers, but I knew that I wanted AllHipHop’s core to be a very identifiable, classic, and durable brand that would be able to survive the rough waters of business. This is what I felt Jobs had created in Apple. At the time of AllHipHop’s inception, there were countless mighty brands, but within Hip-Hop, there were very few. Growing up, my parents bought the family an Apple IIE computer. This was when I first fell in love with Apple, likely because it was my first compute

CCM kimepoteza fursa maridhawa Igunga
