President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to arrive on Sunday in Singida for a two day official visit.
Tanzania’s President, Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete
Singida Regional Commissioner (RC), Parseko Kone told reporters in his office that President Kikwete is expected to arrive in Singida town from Manyara region at about 12:00 noon.
According to a programme issued by the Singida Secretariat, the President is scheduled to lay a foundation stone for a water project being constructed at Mwankoko area outside Singida town the same afternoon.
The RC said the project is estimated to cost a total of 31.5 bn/- upon its completion in December this year, which will completely wipe out the persistent water blues in Singida town. “Later in the evening, the president is scheduled to address a public rally at Namfua Stadium in Singida town,” RC Kone explained.
Dr Kone further said that the President will travel to Itigi in Manyoni district the next day where he is expected to inaugurate the construction work for Manyoni – Itigi – Chaya tarmac road. The 89.3km road is constructed at a cost of 109.64bn/-.
The president will later travel to Manyoni town where he will inaugurate the already built Isuna – Manyoni tarmac road and address a public rally there.
The President will later that day (Nov 05) travel to Dodoma. Singida region had been one of the first working stations for the president during his early days of service in 1976 and since then it has become a stronghold for the ruling party – CCM.
