Boko Haram waamua kujisalimisha

Jeshi la Nigeria limesema kwamba zaidi ya wanamgambo 260 wa Boko Haram wamejisalimisha kaskazini-mashariki mwa Nigeria.

Msemaji alisema jeshi hilo lilimuua mtu anayechukuliwa kama kiongozi wa kundi, Abubakar Shekau.

Inasemekama Mohammed Bashir ametokea kwenye video ya kundi hilo ila anaonekana kama mtu mwenye sura ya uongo.

Book Haram wameingia hasara kubwa ndani ya wiki za karibuni baada ya jeshi la Nigeria kupambana na kundi hilo karibu na mji wao wa Maiduguri kaskazini-mashariki.

Jeshi lilisema kwamba wanachama 135 wa Boko Haram wamejisalimisha pamoja na silaha zao mjini Biu, kwenye jimbo la Borno – na kwamba wengine 135 wamejisalimisha maeneo mengine ya kaskazini-mashariki mwa Nigeria na wanahojiwa kwa sasa.

Mwandishi wa BBC Will Ross aliyekuwepo mjini Lagos anasema kwamba hii haijawahi kutokea katika vita dhidi ya Boko Haram.

Uganda Police issue fresh terror alert

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba “We have received a security notification in form of an orange notice of four terrorists originating from Kazakhstan who are planning to travel to foreign countries in order to commit attacks and participate in hostile acts,” Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said in a statement on Monday. Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
