VODACOM Tanzania, through Vodacom Foundation, will this year sponsor a charity fashion show (Fashion 4 Health black & gold gala night) by Mustafa Hassanali in aid of the Zanzibar Mental hospital in Zanzibar on July 30th.The show is being in Zanzibar for the third year in a row and is organized by Explore Zanzibar.“As Zanzibaris it’s our responsibility and duty to accord a decent life to those seemingly neglected by society”, said Maryam Olsen, Managing Director of Explore Zanzibar.To support her calling, Vodacom Foundation and Mustafa Hassanali have joined forces to create a synergy that will benefit various people at the Zanzibar mental hospital.“This year we want to renovate the male ward and build a sports’ facility. For years, patients have been staying in sub-standard wards. Patients will be able to stay and learn in a fitting environment”, stated Mustafa Hassanali, who together with Explore Zanzibar supports the work of the Mental Hospital of Zanzibar (Kidongo Chekundu).Mustafa Hassanali, Tanzania’s most renowned fashion designer shall unveil his new creations on the 30th of July 2010 at Zanzibar Serena Inn in Stone Town, with models from Dar es Salaam.Zanzibar’s renowned designer, Farouque Abdella shall curtain raise the event together with Mago Designs. The show shall also feature a performance by the Tanzanite Band.Mustafa Hassanali’s “Karafuu” Collection is inspired by the Cloves of Zanzibar. Uganda Police issue fresh terror alert

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba “We have received a security notification in form of an orange notice of four terrorists originating from Kazakhstan who are planning to travel to foreign countries in order to commit attacks and participate in hostile acts,” Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said in a statement on Monday. Nabakooba named the four active members of radical organizations as; Nassiruauly Kairat, Umurzakov Marat Eskendirovich, Kovtun Denis Valerevich and Mazhibayen Alimzhan Akhlazhanovich. Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
