Big Brother Africa


With a phenomenal 5th season of BIG BROTHER AFRICA set to launch on DStv on Sunday July 18, M-Net today offered fans of the series a special sneak peek at the brand new Big Brother logo.
Modern and streamlined, the new logo is a departure from last year’s gritty Revolution themed imagery. Instead the focus is on light, reflection and shimmer, with a boldly defined ‘eye’ highlighted with moments of iridescent color. Setting off the sophisticated design and central to the layout is the outline of a star, evocative of fame, showbiz and the classic Hollywood sense of lights, camera and action!

With the new season of BIG BROTHER AFRICA once again being produced for M-Net by Endemol, Executive Producer Marie Rosholt spoke about the new logo.

“With each season of this show, the eye has come to symbolize the essence of the production, the spirit of the series to follow. This year, the designers were specifically tasked to create an eye that truly represented the new series, one that was fresh and glitzy, simple but still dynamic. In terms of using the star icon, which is commonly used to demonstrate fame and glamour, we felt it represented well how we feel about our audiences, our housemates, our new house and all those people that make BIG BROTHER AFRICA a true African success. They are all stars in their own right.”

The fifth season of BIG BROTHER AFRICA launches on DStv channel 198 on Sunday July 18 and will be available to DStv Premium and Compact subscribers. It will run for 91 days and will be screened 24/7.

The show include housemates from Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe, all competing for the grand prize – a massive USD 200 000! For more information, log on to www.mnetafrica.com .

Uganda Police issue fresh terror alert

  By Chris Kiwawulo, The Police have issued a fresh terror alert against a possible attack on Uganda by four terrorists from Kazakhstan. Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba “We have received a security notification in form of an orange notice of four terrorists originating from Kazakhstan who are planning to travel to foreign countries in order to commit attacks and participate in hostile acts,” Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said in a statement on Monday. Nabakooba named the four active members of radical organizations as; Nassiruauly Kairat, Umurzakov Marat Eskendirovich, Kovtun Denis Valerevich and Mazhibayen Alimzhan Akhlazhanovich. Poland’s GROM special services mastermind found dead

Brigadier General Slawomir Petelicki, responsible for the formation of the GROM special services unit in the 1990s, was found dead at his apartment, Saturday, with bullet wounds to the head. Primary investigations point to suicide as the cause of death. It is expected that prosecutors will decide on an investigation into Petelicki’s death on Monday.
