WE ARE SET TO MAKE JKIA AFRICA HUB, UHURU SAYS


NAIROBI; KENYA: PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA ON SATURDAY SAID WORK IS GOING ON TO MAKE JOMOKENYATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AN AIR TRAVEL HUB IN AFRICA.

Speaking after touring the facility, the President expressed satisfaction that operations at the airport have resumed to levels prior to the fire incident, a month ago.
“With the kind of development we are seeing here, we are hopeful that we will be able to get the airport to be an air travel hub in Africa as a whole,” the President said.
Following the President’s directive, the Garage Facility at the new Terminal Four was opened for Arrivals and the tents that were previously used have been removed. Work on the new Terminal Four has been fast-tracked and it will be completed by December.
He said work on the new Greenfield project, a completely new terminal building at the airport, will start in the coming week and be completed within three years.

Uganda Police issue fresh terror alert

Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba “We have received a security notification in form of an orange notice of four terrorists originating from Kazakhstan who are planning to travel to foreign countries in order to commit attacks and participate in hostile acts,” Police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said in a statement on Monday. Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
