Kenya: Maafisa walikuwa na taarifa

Mawaziri wa serikali walipokea taarifa kuhusu tisho la mashambulizi ya kigaidi kabla ya kundi la Al Shabaab kushambulia jengo la Westgate mjini Nairobi.
Kwa mujibu wa taarifa za kijasusi zilizofichuliwa, zilionyesha maelezo ya mipango ya mashambulizi hayo kufanyika Nairobi au mjini Mombasa.

Mawaziri wanne na mkuu wa majeshi walikuwa wamefahamishwa kuhusu tisho la kufanyika shambulizi la kigaidi.
Watu 67 walifariki na mamia kujeruhiwa katika shambulizi la kigaidi ambalo Al Shabaab walikiri kulifanya Septemba 21 mjini Nairobi.
Kwa mujibu wa taarifa za gazeti la Daily Nation, mawaziri walipokezwa taarifa za kati ta yarehe 13 na 20 kuhusu uwezekano wa kufanyika mashambulizi kadhaa ya kigaidi mjini Mombasa na Nairobi.
Onyo hizo zilitolewa kwa mara ya kwanza mnamo mwezi Januari kwa mujibu wa gazeti hilo na kwa mara nyingine kuanzia Septemba.
Kwa mujibu wa taarifa hizo, serikali ya Israel pia ilitoa taarifa za kuonya kuwa huenda magaidi wakashambulia majengo yanayomilikiwa na raia wake kati ya tarehe 4 na 28 Septemba.
Daily Nation limeripoti kuwa taarifa za kijasusi zilionyesha kuwa viongozi wa al-Shabab walikuwa wameanza kulenga maeneo ya kushambulia ikiwemo Westgate na kanisa la Holy Family Basilica.
Kuna hofu idadi ya waliofariki huenda ikaongezeka.
Maafisa wa serikali wanaosemekana kupokea taarifa hizo ni pamoja na waziri wa fedha, Julius Rotich, waziri wa usalama Joseph Ole Lenku, waziri wa maswala ya kigeni, Amina Mohammed, waziri wa ulinzi Raychelle Omamo na mkuu wa majeshi Julius Karangi.

Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts.
