SERIKALI YA MAPINDUZI YA ZANZIBAR YAILILIA AMREF

Waziri wa Afya wa Serikali ya Mapinduzi ya Zanzibar, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo ameliombaShirika la Utafiti wa Tiba na Afya barani Afrika (AMREF) kujenga ofisi Visiwani Zanzibar ili kuisaidia Serikali katika kupambana na tatizo la vifo vya mama na mtoto.
Kombo aliyasema hayo jana Jijini Dar es Salaam wakati akizungumza na wadau mbambali wa Masuala ya Afya waliojitokeza katika maadhimisho ya miaka 60 ya uanzishwaji wa Shirika la AMREF.
Alisema AMREF wamekuwa na mchango mkubwa nchini Tanzania hususani katika ukomeshaji vitendo vya ukeketaji kwa wanawake katika maeneo mbalimbali hivyo kuwaomba waigeukie na Zanzibar kwa ajili ya utatuzi wa masuala mbalimbali yanayowasumbua.
Alieleza kuwa jukumu la kutokomeza vifo vya mama na mtoto ni la jamii yote hivyo kama shirika hilo litajenga ofisi zao visiwani Zanzibar litaongeza nguvu kwa Serikali ambayo 
imekuwa ikitafuta wadau mbalimbali katika kutatua matatizo hayo.

“Najua mmefanya juhudi nyingi ambazo kila mwenye macho ameziona na mie naomba niwaeleze kilio chetu kama Wazanzibar mje mjenge ofisi na kule kwetu kwa sababu 
tunatambua mtakuwa mnaanzisha program mbalimbali ambazo zitasaidia kuondoa tatizo hili linalosumbua sana visiwa vya Zanzibar,” alidai Kombo.

Akizungumza kwa niaba ya Waziri wa Afya, Maendeleo ya Jamii, Jinsia, Wazee na Watoto, Ummy Mwalimu Kombo alisema AMREF imekuwa ni msaada mkubwa kwa Taifa la Tanzania kwani imekuwa ikiendesha na kuanzisha program mbalimbali ambazo zimesaidia kupunguza uhaba wa wataalamu wa afya.
“Nataka niwaambie kwamba Serikali inatambua mchango wenu na tupo tayari kushirikiana nanyi kwa lolote lile ili mradi mboreshe zaidi huduma za afya ambazo mnazitoa kwa watanzania”
“Lakini pia naomba watanzania watambue kwamba hili Shirika limekuwa msaada mkubwa sana kwetu kwenye masuala ya afya kwani wametusaidia kuingia katika maeneo ya pembezoni zaidi mwa nchi yetu hususani vijijini ambako kulikuwa kumesahaulika kwa kipindi kirefu,” alisema
Kombo.

Kwa upande wake Mkurugenzi mkazi wa shirika hilo,dkt. florence Temu alisema wataendelea kutoa huuduma mbalimbali za Afya nchini ikiwemo utoaji wa elimu ya madhara ya ukeketaji kwa jamii hususani Mangariba, wazee wa vijiji pamoja na wanawake wanaoishi katika maeneo 
ambayo yamekithiri zaidi kwa vitendo hivyo.

Alidai kuwa wamepata mafanikio makubwa ya kupambana na tatizo la ukeketaji pamoja na kupambana na ugonjwa wa Fistula kwani watu wengi wamekuwa na uelewa wa masuala 
hayo ambayo yalikuwa yanaisumbua zaidi Serikali.

“Ili kufanikiwa katika suala hili ni lazima tuishirikishe sana jamii ,kwani tusipofanya hivi tutakua tunakaribisha matatizoyanayowapata wasichana wanaofanyiwa ukeketeji ikiwemo kumwaga damu pamoja na kupewa ndoa za mapema”alisema Florence

Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
