Mali: Mazungumzo ya amani yakumbwa na kizungumkuti

Serikali ya Mali imetangaza vita dhidi ya “magaidi”, siku mbili baada ya mapigano makali kutokea katika mji wa Kidal (kaskazini mwa nchi), ambako ni ngome kuu ya waasi kutoka jamii ya Tuareg. 
Kwa mujibu wa serikali ya Mali, maafisa 30 wa serikali wametekwa nyara na waasi. Kulingana na taarifa za Umoja wa Mataifa, watu wanane wameuawa.
Makabiliano makali yalitokea kati ya jeshi na makundi ya waasi wakati waziri mkuu wa Mali, Moussa Mara, alikua zirani katika mji wa Kidal kilomita 1,500 kaskazini mashariki na mji wa Bamako.
Katika makabiliano hayo watu 36 waliuawa wakiwemo wanajeshi wanane, na wengine zaidi ya 30 walitekwa nyara, kulingana na taarifa iliyotolewa na waziri wa ulinzi Soumeylou Boubeye Maïga.
Kundi la waasi la MNLA limekiri kwamba zaidi ya wanaheshi kumi wa Mali na wafungwa thelathini waliuawa, na wafungwa wengine wawili walijeruhiwa, na baadaae walikabidhiwa shirika la msalaba mwekundu.
Hapo jana ofisi ya Umoja wa Mataifa nchini Mali Minusma ilifahamisha kwamba raia wawili wa kawaida na maafisa sita wa serikali waliuawa katika mji wa Kidal, bila hata hivo kutoa taarifa zaidi.

Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said.
