A Cause For Concern: The Obama/Osama Commentary

Sunday night, (5/1/11) President Obama Deebo’d the TV and gave a stirring speech to announce that Osama Bin Laden had been killed thanks to the bravery of the men in the armed forces, similar to the end scene of a random Call of Duty game. After interrupting Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” (see? Silver lining!), tugging on people’s emotions to cloud their judgment with his grim introduction, and redefining the meaning of “Colored People Time” by making everyone wait a good hour past his scheduled impromptu-speech (that was written), Obama gave the address and then turned and walked away.

And just like that, 80% percent of the people on my timeline started celebrating, as if this means something right now.

Do not misconstrue my words; this means a lot to those families touched by the Word Trade Center tragedies and by the soldiers deployed overseas. I am also glad that Obama made the distinction that we weren’t at war with Muslims, but a mass murderer in general (misguided Christians should get a kick out of that point of view, right?). However, if you for one moment think that the death of Osama means that the world is at peace, you should slap yourself. Downward.

On a steel spike.

I’m not trying to be negative because (if this is true) this is a monumental achievement (NOT celebratory), but I am going to be realistic. I’ve been talking to a few people and they don’t see a reason to worry… Nevermind the fact that this news was announced and no one bothered to call them on it for proof, or the fact that they vehemently keep saying it was solely Americans that did it (making it clear to all), or that Obama’s taking credit for it, or that it took 10 years (and only God knows how much money and pints of blood), or that his BODY is in the United States; none of that matters according to most of the people I’ve talked to. From what they’re telling me, America has a top-notch security backed by the greatest military forces in the world, and retaliation won’t happen.

To top this off, people are celebrating by waving flags, firing gunshots, hitting beach balls on the White House lawn, and more. Lol, the blind patriotism is something to be admired, but…

Note: The speech was well-written, but extreme props to how he walked off with so much swag. I hate that word, but it IS what it is.

See, here’s my issue with the entire thing. First of all, I feel that there’s no way this wasn’t planned. Whether it was planned/timed by Obama to make sure he gets his re-election bid, or planned by the people around Osama for something way more sinister, I feel like there’s no way this is the end of it. Even at the end of movies, just killing the villain never completely resolves the conflict; it only ends the chapter of that saga, although Harry Potter fans would argue that angle. In normal situations and by normal chain of commands, when you cut off the head the rest of the body dies.

Terrorists do not operate by normal standards, if you haven’t noticed by now. Therefore, it’s impossible for me to rejoice when there are others that are just as radical as him itching for the chance to add fuel to the fire. The angle of “The Western SuperPower killed our leader” is something more like a fuel station. So it begs to the question Chuck Creekmur asked moments after the announcement…

“So is a terror leader dead or is a martyr born?”

I’ll put it this way. When the towers fell on 9/11, they celebrated their accomplishment. We grieved, then we plotted a way to get back at them. So now that the tables have turned, you truthfully think that’s it? Nah.

But hey, what do I know? I’m just a dude that loves Hip-Hop. I’m not certified, qualified, or even authorized to be talking on the subject. All I’m saying is that people need to stop being so gullible, stop believing everything that’s on the TV, and find out for themselves to make a more intelligent and a more informed decision. It’s still highly possible that Osama’s not dead since we haven’t seen his body and this is a blatant misdirect to get heat off the Obama’s administration and to lock in his security for the next four years as President.

Because it IS election time, after all.

Look at what’s presented, look at the facts, and be logical. If you can logically prove to me that Al-Qaeda won’t retaliate in some way, shape, or form, then by all means I can get behind it. However, if history is a reminder, this is a cycle that will only get worse as life goes on. This is far from over, and this is more of a cause of concern than a moment to celebrate recklessly. Let’s save that for when the troops finally come home.

By the way, I’m not officially issuing a comment about the people that brought beach balls to the White House because their immaturity alone ethers their argument. We celebrate a terrorist’s death by playing with beach balls? Anybody else see all of the issues wrong with the last statement?

I’m done. I’ll go back to talking music.

Mushikiwabo to UN: Enhance civilian protection

By Eugene Kwibuka Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to invest more energy in the prevention of conflicts for better protection of civilians living in conflict-torn areas. Rwanda’s Foreign minister, Louise Mushikiwabo Louise Mushikiwabo made the call during an open debate on the protection of civilians in armed conflict which the UNSC held in New York on Tuesday. “Rwanda’s core message today is that enhancing the protection of civilians in armed conflict requires action before a conflict starts. The proliferation of non-state armed groups makes civilian protection both more urgent, and harder to achieve,” she said. For better protection of civilians in armed-conflict areas, the minister emphasised the need to increase investments in professionalising the military and police forces through adequate training. “Only when the leadership of armed forces shares the international...

Saudi King urges U.N. action against religious insults

Saudi King Abdullah urged the United Nations to produce a resolution condemning insults on monotheistic religions after the anti-Islam film in the U.S. that sparked deadly protests in many Muslim countries last month. (AFP) By AFP, MINA/SAUDI ARABIA Saudi King Abdullah on Saturday demanded a U.N. resolution condemning insults on monotheistic religions after a low-budget film produced in the U.S. sparked deadly protests last month. “I demand a U.N. resolution that condemns any country or group that insults religions and prophets,” he said during a meeting at his palace with religious figures and heads of hajj delegations in the Mina valley where pilgrims were performing final rituals of hajj. “It is our duty and that of every Muslim to protect Islam and defend the prophets.” A low-budget film produced in the U.S., Innocence of Muslims, triggered a wave of deadly anti-American violence last month across the Muslim world targeting US symbols ranging ...
